Marie Blanke Nautical Themed Serigraph Prints on Paper

A pair of serigraph prints on paper by well-listed American artist Marie Blanke (1879 – 1961). This pair includes one serigraph print of boats on the water, and a second serigraph print of a small harbor. Both prints are signed in graphite to the lower left corners and housed in wooden frames under glass and matboard. The versos of each frame feature small calendars from 1961.
Based in Chicago, Marie Blanke was known for her paintings of landscapes, townscapes, and still lifes. She studied at the Art Institute of Chicago and abroad in England and Germany. As a dedicated promoter of the arts, she was one of the founders of the Cordon Club and a member of several Midwest artist associations. Her work has been exhibited by several art venues including the State Museum in Springfield, the Art Institute of Chicago, the Chicago Arts Club, and the Chicago Gallery Association, among others.
