Bill Schiffer 1998 Oil Painting
Item Details
An oil painting on canvas by New York artist Bill Schiffer (Contemporary). This work depicts a large, fiery red heart on its side painted with a fuzzy-looking texture and surrounded by a border of solid-colored bars in pink, blue, green, and yellow. Born in New York, Bill Schiffer rose to prominence as a painter and sculptor in the early 1980s. Though he still works in many two dimensional and three dimensional art mediums, Schiffer is most well known for his unique handcrafted jewelry, which he started designing after a foray experimenting with wearable art in the fashion scene. Bill Schiffer’s art and jewelry has been shown in the Victoria and Albert Museum in London, the Musee des Arts Decoratifs in Paris, as well as major museums in Italy, Japan, Germany and the United States. His work has been featured in publications including Vogue, Elle, Bazaar, Women’s Wear Daily, Seventeen and Cosmopolitan.
