Bill Schiffer Marker Drawings of Abstract Compositions

Item Details

Other

A collection of marker drawings on paper of abstract compositions by contemporary artist Bill Schiffer. These works, rendered in black marker, depict various geometric designs and patterns against a white ground. Also included is a drawing titled King of the Jungle that depicts a portrait of an abstract figure with hair resembling a lion’s mane. The works are signed and dated circa 1988 by hand to the lower margins. This collection is presented unframed and without hanging hardware.

Born in New York, Bill Schiffer rose to prominence as a painter and sculptor in the early 1980’s. Though he still works in many two dimensional and three dimensional art mediums, Schiffer is most well known for his unique handcrafted jewelry, which he started designing after a foray experimenting with wearable art in the fashion scene. Bill Schiffer’s art and jewelry has been shown in the Victoria and Albert Museum in London, the Musee des Arts Decoratifs in Paris, as well as major museums in Italy, Japan, Germany and the United States. His work has been featured in publications including Vogue, Elle, Bazaar, Women’s Wear Daily, Seventeen and Cosmopolitan.
