Bill Schiffer 1988 Marker Drawings of Abstract Designs

Item Details

Other

A collection of circa 1988 marker drawings on paper of abstract designs by contemporary artist Bill Schiffer. These works, rendered with black marker, depict geometric forms assembled together to create an abstract design. Featured are works depicting a stylized apple and a portrait of a seated woman. This collection of six is signed and dated by hand. The works are presented unframed and without hanging hardware.

Born in New York, Bill Schiffer rose to prominence as a painter and sculptor in the early 1980’s. Though he still works in many two dimensional and three dimensional art mediums, Schiffer is most well known for his unique handcrafted jewelry, which he started designing after a foray experimenting with wearable art in the fashion scene. Bill Schiffer’s art and jewelry has been shown in the Victoria and Albert Museum in London, the Musee des Arts Decoratifs in Paris, as well as major museums in Italy, Japan, Germany and the United States. His work has been featured in publications including Vogue, Elle, Bazaar, Women’s Wear Daily, Seventeen and Cosmopolitan.
