A Chinese shell relief of horses. This work depicts two stylized horses galloping alongside each other, surrounded by calligraphic text. The composition is composed of cut and etched pieces of shell affixed on top of each other against a black backing. To the lower right corner is an artist seal. This is presented under protective glazing in a dark and stained wooden frame featuring a linen liner and gold tone fillet with a sawtooth bracket to the verso for hanging.

- residue on right horse’s face and neck; minor chips and wear to edges of frame.
