A watercolor painting on paper of the Grand Hotel Locaro by listed Italian artist Federico Schianchi (1858 – 1919). This Impressionist style painting depicts a hillside of lush foliage obscuring various residences and the aforementioned Switzerland hotel. To the lower portion of this mountain is a tended canopy of trees with people gathered underneath, overlooking stairwells leading to a vast body of water featuring gondolas gliding across the surface. Found to the lower corners is the artist’s signature and inscription labeling the subject. The painting is presented under glass in a gold tone wooden frame with hanging wire to the verso.

Condition

- gold tone wood and gesso frame showing nicks and scratches around the frame.
