Franklin Mint SwissCylinder Music Box with Reuge Movement and Multiple Cylinders
Item Details
A Franklin Mint cylinder music box with Reuge movement and four cylinders. The box features a mahogany veneer with inlaid borders to the top and sides; cherubs and emblem design to the top; and black ogee edge to the top and base. The piece rests on four gold tone scrolled feet and includes two ornate gold tone handles to the sides. The lid opens with a button to the front and is supported by a gold tone metal piano hinge. The inner workings are presented within the box beneath a removable glass panel and include four interchangeable cylinders that play selections of works by the composers Verdi, Rossini and Puccini. The works are emboss marked ‘Reuge Switzerland’ and an inner label with the musical selection listings is included to the interior of the box. The underside of the box retains its original paper label marked ‘La Musica d’Italia: Grand Opera Music Box’ and is dated 1988 by the Franklin Mint. The box is additionally marked ‘Made in Switzerland’ to the underside.
