‘A Prospect of the Town of Batavia’ (Indonesian town whose name was changed to Jakarta during the second World War) was originally paired with ‘A View of the Citadel of Batavia’ in 1744 for map maker Emanuel Bowen. This hand-colored print is presented in simple gilt wooden frame. Hanging wire attached to back.
Condition
Backing is badly torn. Needs to be cleaned.
