An antique quarter sawn oak Curule chair after R.J. Horner having a hand-carved crest back featuring lions, pierced scrollwork and a crown top flanked by acanthus leaf carved stiles that curve down to form the arms with scrolled handholds. The arms are supported by curved rails attached to the scooped seat and supported on two U-shaped legs terminating on carved claw feet joined by side stretchers. The chair includes an ivory, button-tufted pillow. Circa 1900. There are no visible maker’s marks.
