An 1897 lithographic print after an exhibition poster by Spanish artist Alexandre de Riquer (1856 – 1920), published in Les Maitres de L’Affiche (Masters of the Poster). This well-known series, published from 1895 – 1900 by renowned French printmaker Jules Cheret (1836 – 1932), was offered as a subscription and reproduced what were considered the best advertising posters of the time. This print is signed within the plate to the lower right. It is marked as plate No. 64 to the lower left, and is marked with a blind stamp to the lower right. It is presented unframed, awaiting your choice of presentation.
Condition
- toning and scattered foxing to print. Wear to sheet corners, including loss to both lower corners.
