A 1983 La Scala de Milano Madame Butterfly porcelain music box. This hand-painted porcelain piece features 24 kt gold gilt work throughout, and commemorates the 125th anniversary of Italian composer Giacomo Puccini’s birth. The limited edition music box is embellished with an orange butterfly amid a spray of pink flowers to the lid, and scenes from Puccini’s opera ‘Madame Butterfly’ around the circumference. The three footed base is graced with intricate butterflies, and the verso is marked ‘La Scala de Milano, 1983’ alongside notes about the piece.
