An antique ambrotype portrait of a Civil War soldier. This piece features a black and white image under a tooled copper-tone metal liner with floriate patterns and an oval-shaped window. It fits in a hinged wood case carved with acanthus leaf designs and an embossed velvet interior. The case is finished in off-white and gold-tone paint.

Condition

- wear and minor paint loss throughout wooden frame; crack to one corner; embellished velvet is scuffed; interior is detached from encasement; wear and minor stains throughout copper decorative liner; loss, minor accretion and discoloration throughout ambrotype.
