A pair of hardcover American history books from the 1970s. The Reader’s Digest Illustrated Edition of Carl Sandburg’s Abraham Lincoln: The Prairie Years and the War Years was published by the Reader’s Digest Association in 1970 and features Sandburg’s own single-volume version of the text accompanied by over 200 illustrations. Spirit of ‘76: The Story of Our Nation’s Birth was published by New Jersey newspaper The Daily Journal in 1976 to commemorate the US bicentennial.
