Vintage Photos of King George VI and Queen Elizabeth During 1939 Canada Tour

Item Details

A collection of nineteen vintage photographs of King George VI and Queen Elizabeth’s tour to Canada in 1939. Between May and June of 1939, the King and Queen of Great Britain became the first seated monarchs to tour Canada, traveling to the west coast and back over the course of a month. These photos were taken during their last day in Canada, on June 7, 1939, at the Town Hall and CN Railway Station (now LIUNA Station) in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada, before departing for a week-long trip to the United States. The photographs include shots of the Royal Procession, candid photos of the Royals and others, formations of RCMP soldiers, and the departing royals waving from the back of a train car. Many of the photos are marked to the reverse with dates and places, as well as stamps from the developers. The glass coverings are not included.
