An oil painting on canvas by American artist and illustrator Lucian Lupinski (1918-2002). This piece depicts a figure painting of a nude woman seated on a chair draped in purple cloth with her legs crossed over the side. It is signed in paint to the lower right corner and dated “39”, and it has a stamp to the verso from the artist’s estate. The work is presented unstretched and unframed.
Raised in Ohio, Lucian Lupinski studied at Ohio State University, the Grand Central School of Art, the Art Students League in New York, and the American Academy of Art in Chicago. He was an artist-in-residence for The Saturday Evening Post. His murals can be found in the Toledo Cathedral, the Museum of Art and Industry in Chicago, and religious buildings in eastern U.S. states.
