An oil painting on canvas by listed artist Fernando Ruiz de Ascarza (20th-century). The still life work depicts a vase of purple flowers on a table with larger pansy blooms. The piece is signed to the lower right corner. It is presented in a wood frame with gilt sight edge and wire to verso for hanging purposes.

A supposed friend of well-known Cubist Pablo Picasso (Spanish, 1881 – 1973), Ascarza is known for his figurative paintings. The artist instructed a number of regional artists during his career.

- some foxing marks to areas of unpainted canvas; scratches and abrasions throughout frame particularly to lower right.
