A pair of oil paintings on canvas dated to the mid-20th century. The first landscape by listed artist Fernando Ruiz de Ascarza (20th-century) depicts a river surrounded by woodland. It is signed to lower right corner. The second unsigned piece depicts a country road in between a fence and cottage. Each piece is presented as an unframed stretched canvas.
A supposed friend of well-known Cubist Pablo Picasso (Spanish, 1881 – 1973), Ascarza is known for his figurative paintings. The artist instructed a number of regional artists during his career.
