A watercolor painting on paper of a street scene by artist Kathryn Tauber (American, 20th-century). The work depicts several stylized figures with dwellings and foliage to the background using soft colors. To the bottom right, the work is signed. The painting is presented matted under glass with a silver-toned wooden frame.
Tauber is a regional American artist known for her still lifes and portraits. She studied under painter Fernando Ascarza (20th-century), a supposed friend of well-known Cubist Pablo Picasso (Spanish, 1881 – 1973). Describing herself as a hobbyist, the artist has never before presented her works to the market. EBTH is proud to offer Ms. Tauber’s works for the first time.
Condition
- to fair; some wear around the edges of the frame; the inside frame is bent to the bottom; paper is off center in mat; wear and chips to the surface of the painting; to the verso, staining and water damage to the protective backing.
