Two Fernando Ruiz de Ascarza Oil Paintings

Two of oil paintings on canvas and panel of a lakeside scene and a floral still life by listed artist Fernando Ruiz de Ascarza (20th century). Depicted in the first item is a view of a red dock against a bright and rippling lake with sailboats coasting off in the distance. The second painting depicts a bursting arrangement of yellow and orange daisies filling a round, blue vase on a tabletop. Artist’s signature is to the lower right corner of both oil paintings. Pieces are both presented without glass in gold-toned wooden frames.
A supposed friend of well-known Cubist Pablo Picasso (Spanish, 1881 – 1973), Ascarza is known for his figurative paintings. The artist instructed a number of regional artists during his career.

- slight wear to edges of frames; accretions and dust present to crevices of frames.
