An oil painting on canvas of city life by artist Kathryn Tauber (American; 20th century). Depicted is a cluster of figures gathered near a flower stand on the corner of a street. One woman buys an arrangement from the florist and hands her daughter a single red flower. Artist’s signature is to the lower right corner in paint. Piece is presented without glass in a gold-toned wooden frame with a wire hanger to the verso.
Tauber is a regional American artist known for her still lifes and portraits. She studied under painter Fernando Ascarza (20th-century), a supposed friend of well-known Cubist Pablo Picasso (Spanish, 1881 – 1973).
