An oil painting on canvas board of a portrait by Kathryn Tauber (American, 20th-century). The work depicts a portrait of a figure next to a canvas using thickly applied pigment. To the right, the painting is dedicated to Fernando Ascarza. To the bottom right, the work is signed. The painting is presented in a decorative wooden frame without glass.

Tauber is a regional American artist known for her still lifes and portraits. She studied under painter Fernando Ascarza (20th-century), a supposed friend of well-known Cubist Pablo Picasso (Spanish, 1881 – 1973). Describing herself as a hobbyist, the artist has never before presented her works to the market. EBTH is proud to offer Ms. Tauber’s works for the first time.

Condition

- some wear to the edges of the frame; cracking to the bottom frame; dust and debris to the surface of the frame; surface of painting could benefit from a cleaning; scratch to the top left of the painting; to the verso, some wear and foxing to the protective backing.
