A hand-knotted Afghani Bokhara area rug. This wool pile rug is hand-knotted in a palette of pastel pink, white, beige, black, and pale gray. The rug is patterned with octagonal ‘elephants foot’ and Chemche guls arranged in a lattice pattern. It is framed with borders of hooked octagonal medallions, cruciform, and triangular motifs in grid patterns. Running along either end are concentric hooked diamonds with perepedil motifs. It is finished with overcast edges and natural warp fringe to either end.
