A hand-knotted Persian Hamadan wool area rug. This supple wool rug is featured in a palette of strawberry, ivory, midnight blue, tangerine, burgundy, mocha and rose. It begins with a floral star medallion spoked with large, feather-like lancet leaves and palmettes over ivory. The medallion rests on a strawberry field filled with palmettes, flowers, leaves and vines, elements that continue in the spandrels. Framing the field are three borders, including a main border with split tulips and other floral elements grounded in strawberry along with minor borders featuring Karabagh patterns in different colors over ivory. Selvedges are overcast, the rug finishing at each end with long cotton warp fringe. Unlabeled.
