Vintage Hand-Built Live Steam Locomotive Model of Large Scale with Track
Item Details
A vintage hand-built live steam locomotive model of large scale with track. The black, steel frame is embellished with copper-tone accents. It features a rear cab with an open back and glass windows continuing to a firebox boiler with a hinged, access door. The top of the boiler’s exterior is fitted with a steam dome and a regulator valve joined by tubes to a pair of lower, lateral-mounted cylinders. Also located on the top of the boiler is a bell, a chimney, and a headlight. Each side of the locomotive is marked ‘NW / 97’ and ‘2200’ in white letters, possibly in reference to the engine of the same number introduced by the Norfolk and Western Railway in 1952. It rolls on four drive wheels and four lead wheels behind a cowcatcher in matching paint. Also included are two sections of track joined by a central hinge, one of which is incised ‘W.T.P.’
