A hand-knotted art silk Bakhtiari area rug. This area rug is hand-knotted in a silky palette of navy, cinnamon, taupe, honey, moss, grey, ivory, caramel, and indigo. The field is patterned with a square grid design, each panel separated with horizontal diamond forms and lobed flower patterns. It features designs of geometric and curvilinear flowers, trees, boteh and architectural forms. Framing the field are diamond lattice filled cartouche, boteh and flower heads along with sawtooth guard borders. It also contains a main border boasting large star flowers, ornate leaves and floral sprays in all the field colors. Selvedges are overcast, the rug finishing with long knotted ivory fringe to either end. Unlabeled.
