A hand-knotted Persian Tabriz wool area rug. This rug begins with a star medallion infilled with floral elements and surrounded by Shah Abassi pendants. A palette of sky blue, cranberry, teal, ivory and indigo are included in this color scheme. The scalloped lozenge has anchored pendents, endless baroque style floral sprays with lancet leaves and palmettes grounded in scarlet red. The ivory field is joined by sky blue spandrels of the same design. Framing the rug are several floral borders including chain palmettes grounded in teal. The main herati border is featured over a black ground. Selvedges are overcast, the rug finishes with a kilim skirt and long knotted ivory warp fringe at each end. Unlabeled.
