A Chinese mother of pearl inlaid armoire. This black lacquered four door armoire is inlaid with an intricate mother of pearl border across the cornice, the base and along the sides of the armoire, with additional intricate borders on the four doors which enclose elaborate tinted mother of pearl inlaid scenes of exotic birds including Mandarin ducks, birds of paradise, peafowl and others. The interior of the armoire is finished in red lacquer with the two central doors enclosing two shelves over a drawer and the two flanking doors each enclosing a hanging bar and a single drawer at the bottom. No key present. Breaks into three pieces for moving. No apparent maker’s mark.
