A vintage Occupied Japan porcelain tea service including a teapot, covered sugar bowl, cream pitcher, six bread plates, six teacups, and four saucers. The pieces feature hand-embellished architectural patterns depicting pagodas on waterfronts surrounded by trees with floral patterns to the gilt borders. Thick gilding adorns the handles and spouts. The pieces are marked CPO to the underside, which stands for Central Purchasing Office, indicating that this set was purchased at a military base between 1945-52.
