A hand-knotted signed Persian Mashhad room size area rug. This room size wool rug is finely hand-knotted in a palette of ruby red, cerulean, magenta, olive, emerald green, sky blue,bright orange, mustard, navy, and black. The rug has a large eight point center medallion on an oval shaped medallion patterned with curvilinear vines, Shah Abbasi palmettes, and lancet leaves. It is framed with carnation meander guard borders and it has a samovar pattern main border. It is signed by the weaver at one edge in white colored Arabic script. It is finished with overcast selvedges and natural warp fringe. Marked to verso ‘Made in Persia’ .
