Item Details
An oil painting on wood panel titled Totemic Symbols by California artist Paul Darrow (born 1921). This abstract, Modernist work depicts a field with stripes of color and geometric forms broken up with lines of black paint. It is painted in a palette of orange, scarlet, yellow ochre, olive green, and plum. The piece is signed in paint to the lower right corner with exhibition and informational labels to the verso that dates the work to the 1950’s. It is presented in a gilt wood frame with a fabric liner and wire to the verso for hanging.
Condition
- to Fair; scratches with loss of paint to surface of piece; wear to frame; stains to fabric liner.
