Hand-Knotted Persian Bijar Long Rug
Item Details
A hand-knotted Persian Bijar long rug. This wool rug begins with a soft diamond medallion grounded in midnight blue and scarlet, with a flame outline and dark crimson rosebuds on two sides. The surrounding scarlet red field contains an allover herati pattern incorporating with rectilinear, palmettes, florals and foliage amid diamonds and other geometric devises. Spandrels reprise the floral design of the medallion. Framing the field are unresolved running water S designs, samovar and meandering floral borders. The palette is scarlet, midnight blue, ivory and rose. Selvedges are overcast in black, the rug finishing with short warp fringe at each end. Unlabeled.
