Vintage Federal Style Mahogany Chifferobe from Berkey & Gay Furniture Co.

Item Details

An early 20th century Berkey & Gay Federal style, mahogany chifferobe. The piece consists of a wardrobe connected to a chest of drawers. The wardrobe having a rectangular top over two blind paneled doors fitted with keyhole escutcheons, brass knobs, and opening to a shallow drawer, side brackets for rods, a recessed trap door on the bottom. The piece includes a set of wood topped hangers and rests on a plinth base. The side chest of drawers features a slide-out, framed mirror with an adjustable easel back over a width-wide drawer, three stacked drawers next to a flat front cabinet door followed by four width-wide drawers. The drawers are dovetailed, some are fitted with organizing compartments and all have brass knobs, keyhole escutcheons or bail handles. The chest rises on bracket feet joined by an apron and is a bit set back from the base of the wardrobe.
