A hand-colored engraving on paper by French fashion illustrator Adèle-Anaïs Toudouze (1822–1899). This piece depicts two women in late 19th century fashions conversing at an open bay window. It was imported from Paris, where it was originally published in Le Follet, and printed in the American publication Graham’s Magazine. The artist’s name is printed to the lower left, and the title, caption, and publisher are printed to the lower center. The piece is presented behind a French mat with silver tone fillet, under glass, and in a silver tone frame with wire to the verso for hanging.

Condition

- image paper is discolored; accretion throughout the image area; nicks and scratches around the frame; gallery label to verso has been torn off and taped back on.
