A silk scarf from the art museum The Phillips Collection in Washington, DC, inspired by the artwork Luncheon of the Boating Party (1880–81) by Pierre-Auguste Renoir. The artwork was acquired by The Phillips collection in 1923 and has remained the best known and most popular piece of the museum. The silk scarf features an illustrative hat motif depicting hats from the scene of the famous work with a border of illustrative grape clusters and solid emerald green. Each hat has a descriptive script surrounding it beginning with ‘le chapeau…’ and a central spiraled title ‘Le Dejeuner des Canotiers 1881’, French for Luncheon of the Boating Party. The edges are hand-rolled and include a cloth label.
