1940 Letter from Tyrone Guthrie to Herbert Marshall

A letter dated July 1, 1940 from acclaimed British director, Tyrone (Tory) Guthrie (1900 -1971) to Herbert Marshall . The letter is handwritten in black ink and is signed ‘Tory Guthrie’. The letter is Guthrie’s personal review of Marshall’s most successful theatrical production, Thunder Rock. He discusses the performances of Michael Redgrave and Marshall’s wife, Fredda Brilliant. He expresses a candid and forthright opinion of the anti-fascist play written by Robert Ardrey. This item is a companion to item number 18DCC083-124.
