Vintage Ridgways Pottery Congressional Mug

A congressional mug. Presented here is a souvenir mug produced by Ridgways of England for the National Remembrance Shop in Washington, D.C. The shop was in operation from the late 19th Century to 1924 and this mug features a deep amber glaze finish and the Capitol Building on the front with the Congressional Library on the rear. The rim, handle and base are highlighted with a silver tone finish and the piece is marked ‘Ridgways England The National Remembrance Shop Washington D.C. to the underside’. Also included is A Book-Lovers Holiday in the Open by Theodore Roosevelt. This book was written in 1916 with this edition published in 1919 and covers Roosevelt’s trips through the Brazilian Wilderness, African Safaris, South America and across the southern and southeastern United states. He chronicles his hunting trips and those that hunted with him in this publication.
