A circa 1948 serigraph on paper titled Dancers after listed Catalan artist Joan Junyer Pascual-Fibla (Barcelona, 1904 – 1994). The monochromatic piece depicts two abstract ballet dancers leaping together in the air. The striped figures are set against a backdrop of draped curtains and an open doorway leading to a mysterious dark passageway with a network of intersecting lines. The work is signed ‘Junyer 48’ in plate to the lower left. It is matted in off-white and presented without glass in a black wooden frame fitted with hanging wire to the verso.
Condition
- severe discoloration and toning to image; wrinkling to ground; stains present at upper left; damage to inner edge of mat at middle of right side; mild discoloration to matting; moderate wear to frame, with scratches to frame surface and minor separation at the corners; frame glass has been removed.
