A hand-knotted Persian Tabriz area rug. This wool area rug features a color palette of banana yellow, ruby, ocher, pale blue, white, navy and mint. The field is patterned with a rounded square shaped medallion with scalloped edges, curvilinear vines, Shah Abbasi palmettes, and lancet leaves. At either end of the field are vases filled with lobbed flower branches. It is framed by compound borders of sawtooth lines, islimis scroll designs, and various palmettes. Finished with overcast selvedges and short fringe to either end. Marked to verso ‘made in iran’.
