Item Details
An antique ogee mantel clock by E.N. Welch, circa mid 19th century. The rectangular, mahogany-veneered case features a glazed door with a clear, upper panel and a reverse-decorated, lower panel labeled ‘Stanwix and Congress Halls’. The door is fitted with a brass knob and it opens to a floral-painted, tin dial with black, Roman numeral markers. The interior retains a partial, paper label reading ‘Improved Eight Day / Brass Clocks / Made And Sold By / E.N. Welch, / Forestville, Conn., U.S.A.’

- clock not tested; retains pendulum but missing weights; case with some small veneer chips/losses and repairs; right side panel with a loss along back edge while left side panel has a repair along the back edge with a resulting crack; some tiny losses to reverse-decoration on lower panel and to corners of painted dial; interior label is brittle and with losses.
