A hand-knotted Persian Kashan area rug. This wool rug is hand-knotted in a palette of cherry red, navy, slate blue, orange, cream, goldenrod, pink, and emerald. It has a diamond shaped central medallion on a field densely patterned with curvilinear vines, Shah Abbasi palmettes, and lancet leaves. It has scalloped corner brackets with scroll motif patterns. It is framed by guard borders of barber pole lines and carnation meanders. It has a herati motif main border. Finished with overcast edges and fringe to either end. Marked to verso ‘Made in Iran’.
