An artist’s proof hand-colored etching on Arches paper titled Reuben from the series The Twelve Tribes of Israel by well-listed artist Salvador Dalí (Spanish, 1904 – 1989). Marked ‘EA’ and signed by the artist in graphite to the lower margin. Presented as a loose work on paper without a frame or mat.

Dalí was born in Figueres, Spain to Salvador Dalí y Cusi, a lawyer and notary, and Felipa Domenech Ferres. His mother encouraged his artistic pursuits a eccentricities. In 1922 Dalí enrolled at the Academia de San Fernando in Madrid, Spain. It was during this time that he went to Paris started interacting with Picasso, Magritte, and Miro leading to his first Surrealist phase. Dalí is best known for his Surrealist painting, drawing, photography, and sculptures. His works are housed in many private collections and museums across the globe.
