Depicted is an aerial view of a street in a suburban area with a minimalistic rendering of houses and people. Artist’s signature is to the lower right corner in blue colored pencil. Piece is presented as loose work without mat or frame.
Entirely self-taught, Alfred Birdsey started painting at the age of 16. He was a watercolor painter in Bermuda known for his renderings of the surrounding sailboats, homes, and bays. Birdsey was the only modernist painter working in Bermuda for most of the second half of the 20th century. Through his travels, Birdsey accomplished several murals in Boston and New York but remained in Bermuda for the majority of his life.
