Engraving After Harold Butterfield

An engraving print on paper of a ceremonial certificate for the Byrd Antarctic Expedition with images after Harold Butterfield (1877 – 1974), dated 1928 – 1930. The work depicts a series of Antarctic imagery including sled dogs, penguins, and ships with an inscription to the center. A hand-colored seal is included to the bottom of the print. To the bottom of the image, the date is written in numerals. To the bottom left print margin, the images are credited to the artist. The print is presented unmounted and without a frame.
Condition
- some wear and discoloration to the edges of the paper; large crease to the bottom print margin; to the verso, staining and wear.
