An etching on paper with copper foil embellishments titled Fidelio by Mikulas Kravjansky (Czechoslovakia; b.1928). Depicted is an abstract rendering of figures gathered together and staring up at a bright light that is shining down on them. Artist’s signature is to the lower right corner and ‘hors de commerce’ is to the lower left. Piece is presented as loose work without mat or frame.
Mikulas Kravjansky was born in Czechoslovakia in 1928. He studied at the Prague Academy of Muse Arts, focusing on art and scenography. Kravjansky was the chairman of the art department of Czechoslovakia’s State Television and he created numerous designs for operas, ballets, and theatrical productions. He now owns his own production company and creates limited edition graphic works.

- to fair; foxing to paper; toning to paper; wear to edges of paper; pin holes to each corner due to hanging; black staining to upper right margin; copper foil peeling away from paper at the lower right corner.
