An intaglio print on paper titled Portrait of Napoleon as First Consul after portrait painter Louis Léopold Boilly (French, 1761 – 1845). The work depicts a hand-colored aquatint portrait of the famous general. To the bottom, an etching depicts Napoleon reviewing his troops after painter Jean Duplessi-Bertaux (French, 1747 – 1819). The print is presented under glass in a decorative gilded frame.
Condition
- to fair; some chips and wear to the edges of the frame; large chip to the bottom right of the frame; glass could benefit from a cleaning; some dust and debris under the glass; discoloration to the edges of the paper; some wear to the upper left of the paper; to the verso, some wear to the frame.
