Salvador Dalí Etching "Judgement" from "Historia de Don Quichotte de la Mancha"

A limited edition etching on paper titled Judgement from the series Historia de Don Quichotte de la Mancha by well-listed artist Salvador Dalí (Spanish, 1904 – 1989) in cooperation with Levine and Levine, New York for DALART. This print depicts a vague figure being transported in a cage across an arid desert. It is edition 11 out of 300 and it signed in graphite to the lower margin. There is a blindstamp ‘DALART/N.V./Copyright 1981’ lower left. This print is presented matted and housed in a wooden frame with gilt gesso moulding, an embossed liner, and remains under plastic.

Dalí was born in Figueres, Spain to Salvador Dalí y Cusi, a lawyer and notary, and Felipa Domenech Ferres. His mother encouraged his artistic pursuits a eccentricities. In 1922 Dalí enrolled at the Academia de San Fernando in Madrid, Spain. It was during this time that he went to Paris started interacting with Picasso, Magritte, and Miro leading to his first Surrealist phase. Dalí is best known for his Surrealist painting, drawing, photography, and sculptures. His works are housed in many private collections and museums across the globe.
