An offset lithograph print on paper titled Philosopher Illuminated by the Light of the Moon and the Setting Sun by well-listed artist Salvador Dalí (Spanish, 1904 – 1989). Depicted is a man reclining on the ground rendered with extreme chiaroscuro. Signed ‘Dalí’ by an unknown hand to the lower portion of the print. Piece is present matted under acrylic glass in a wooden frame with a wire hanger to the verso.

Dalí was born in Figueres, Spain to Salvador Dalí y Cusi, a lawyer and notary, and Felipa Domenech Ferres. His mother encouraged his artistic pursuits a eccentricities. In 1922 Dalí enrolled at the Academia de San Fernando in Madrid, Spain. It was during this time that he went to Paris started interacting with Picasso, Magritte, and Miro leading to his first Surrealist phase. Dalí is best known for his Surrealist painting, drawing, photography, and sculptures. His works are housed in many private collections and museums across the globe.
