Salvador Dalí Lithograph "Mark (Merlin the Magician)"

A limited edition lithograph on paper titled Mark (Merlin the Magician) from the series The Twelve Apostles (Knights of the Round Table) after a gouache painting by well-listed artist Salvador Dalí (Spanish, 1904 – 1989). The work depicts a seated figure with thick expressive line and gold-toned foil throughout the image. To the bottom plate margin, the work is numbered 127 out of an edition of 350 and signed. To the verso, a certificate of authentication is adhered. The print is presented matted under glass in a sloped wooden frame.

Dalí was born in Figueres, Spain to Salvador Dalí y Cusi, a lawyer and notary, and Felipa Domenech Ferres. His mother encouraged his artistic pursuits a eccentricities. In 1922 Dalí enrolled at the Academia de San Fernando in Madrid, Spain. It was during this time that he went to Paris started interacting with Picasso, Magritte, and Miro leading to his first Surrealist phase. Dalí is best known for his Surrealist painting, drawing, photography, and sculptures. His works are housed in many private collections and museums across the globe.

Condition

- scratches and wear to the edges of the frame; glass could benefit from a cleaning; protective backing was removed in order to verify the item.
