An early 20th-century etching with aquatint on paper titled Morning after listed British artist John Frederick Herring, Sr. (1795-1865) from the series Herring’s Farm Scenes. The piece depicts a 19th-century farm landscape, with horses being led out of their stable for the day’s work. The image is signed in plate to the lower right and titled in plate to the lower center. It is matted and presented under glass in a wooden frame with fluted embellishments, fitted with hanging wire to the verso.
Condition
- severe discoloration to image and mat; mild mat burn around edges of image; minor wear and scuffs to frame; tears to frame’s backing paper.
