An early 20th-century etching with aquatint on paper titled Noon after listed British artist John Frederick Herring, Sr. (1795-1865) from the series Herring’s Farm Scenes. The piece depicts a 19th-century farm landscape, with horses and farmers working in a field, against the backdrop of a quaint village. The image is signed in plate to the lower right and titled in plate to the lower center. It is matted and presented under glass in a wooden frame with fluted embellishments, fitted with hanging wire to the verso.
Condition
- severe toning and discoloration to image and mat; mild mat burn around edges of image; minor wear and scuffs to frame; tears to frame’s backing paper.
